Missing emails in Gmail can be a real headache when you start missing out on important emails. Below given are the simple solutions to fix the ‘email not received’ error in Gmail. Follow them to resolve the problem.

Email was archived, deleted, or marked as spam

In case the emails are accidently archived, deleted, or marked as spam, do the following:

  • Open Gmail on your system.
  • Click the down arrow in the search box and then click the ‘All Mail’ drop down arrow.
  • Select ‘Mail & Spam & Trash’.
  • Scroll down to check through the unread messages for your missing mails.

Note: Keep in mind that the messages that have been in the spam or trash for more than 30 days will be deleted automatically. Recovery of the emails that have been deleted permanently is not possible.

Check if the email was filtered

If you have created a filter that automatically archives or deletes certain emails, follow these steps:

  • Open Gmail on your system and go to Settings > Settings.
  • From the top menu, select the ‘Filters and Blocked Addresses’ tab.
  • Search for the filters that may contain the words ‘delete it’ or ‘skip inbox’.
  • Click on ‘edit’ or ‘delete’ in the right and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Check if your emails are being forwarded to another account

In case your emails are being forwarded to some other account you have added in email forwarding, follow these steps to get the mails in your inbox:

  • Open Gmail on your system and go to Settings > Settings.
  • From the top menu, select the ‘Forwarding and POP/IMAP’ tab.
  • In the ‘Forwarding’ section, check if any forwarding address is added. If it is, select ‘Keep Gmail’s copy in the Inbox’ or ‘Mark Gmail’s copy as read’.
  • Click on Save Changes.
